The Ljubljana Stage in the 1830s: Cultural Exchange and Institutional Dynamics

This study offers an overview of the organizational, structural and artistic dimensions of the Estates Theatre in Ljubljana during the period from 1830 to 1840, investigating whether the theatre operated as a national institution or merely as a local municipal venue. In doing so, the discussion encompasses not only the theatre’s overall direction and audience, but also broader themes such as cultural transfer, actor mobility, professional networks and the theatre’s integration into the Habsburg Empire’s theatrical landscape.

The Success of the Demands of Women and Feminists and the Power of Antifeminism in Slovene Territory before the Second World War

The present paper examines the dialectical relationship between the women’s and feminist movements in the Slovene lands during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and in the aftermath of the First World War, as well as the antifeminist responses that emerged in both the media landscape and in structural political measures.

Political Socialization in Carniola: The Case of the Women’s and Labour Movements and the Relationship between the Public and the Political

The present article details two public movements in Carniola, on behalf of women and for labour, as well as the course of the transformation of the public and political space at the turn the 20th century. The question of the key factors that contributed to the success of these movements is addressed, with answers sought in the context of the resource mobilization theory. The primary focus of interest is relevant successful organisational models and particularly, the mobilization and political socialization of the membership of these movements.
