Czech Intellectual Jiří Němec and Austrian-left Catholicism Thought

The presented study aims to define the origin and character of transnational intellectual relations between Czech Catholic philosopher and essayist Jiří Němec and the intellectual group of Austrian left Catholics in the 1960s. The article traces the impact and influence of Austrian left Catholicism on the thought and spiritual development of Jiří Němec.

The Concept of “Nation” and “National Community” in the Thinking of Štefan Polakovič: A Case of the Nazi Idea of Volksgemeinschaft Spread within Slovak Catholic Nationalism

This study explores a range of shifts in the understanding of “nation” by Štefan Polakovič, a Catholic intellectual, in the period of the wartime Slovak Republic, focusing on the root causes of Polakovič’s adoption of Volksgemeinschaft—the racial concept of “nation” that drew upon the ideology of German National Socialism. The current paper examines the genesis of the Slovak adaptation in Polakovič’s interpretation and his coming to terms with the Catholic critique of racism.

This article examines the effects of anti-Semitism on the journalism of Karol Körper. Karol Körper was a Catholic priest and a politician within Hlinka’s Slovak People’s Party from about 1935 to the early 1940s. Specifically, the article follows the formation of anti-Semitism conspiracies provoked by campaigns against “Judeo-Bolshevism” that resulted in proposal for the resolution of the so-called Jewish question from 1936–1938.

Nová žena v útoku a obrane. Druhá svetová vojna v časopise Katolíckej jednoty žien

The paper focuses on the war career of the Nová žena journal, more precisely, on war-time strategies applied by a journal exhibiting specific features. The first one is that the Nová žena was not only for women, but entirely women´s – written and run by women only. The next typical feature was the lasting political and ideological orientation towards neutral Vatican, which was a source of permanent contradictions with the official propaganda contents preferred by the war-time Slovak state.
