Pavel Štepánek, Historian of Art, specialized in the art of the Ibero-American world. Actually, he is PhDr., PhD., Prof. at the Dept. of Art History of the Palacký University at Olomouc and at the Spanish Dept. of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University of Prague. The year 1981 he was named extraordinary professor of the Cathedra of José Clemente Orozco at the Mexican National Autonomous University (U. N. A. M.) at Mexico City; and in 2013 as "Distinguished Academic" at the Ibero-American University at the Mexico City; Invited Professor at the University of Zaragoza (Spain, 1990) and prof. at the Venezuelan Catholic University at Caracas (UCAB ). In the years of 1991-1994 he was counselor and chargé d´affaires of the Czech Republic at Caracas. He is corresponding member of the Spanish
Royal Academy of St. Ferdinand at Madrid and of the National Academy of Arts of Lisbon (Portugal). At Prague, he worked e. g. at the National Gallery (1969-76) and at the Middle Bohemia Gallery (1976-88). Member of the American Society for Hispanic Art Historical Studies (ASHAHS, USA). Honorary Associate of The Hispanic Society of America. Commander of the Order of Isabel la Católica (Spain). Autor of many books and curator of many exhibitions.
